my moms mac is an late 2010 white macbook 2 gigs of ram 2.4 dual core. I've tried everything and am convinced ram won't do it much good. How do i go back to snow leapord?

RAM would probably do a lot of good.
I have the same processor, along with 8 gigs of RAM and Lion never gives me beachballs/lag.

Well lion runs fine on mine stock 2gb ram (MacBook below) if you don't want to spend any more money to upgrade ram and you don't use stuff like iCloud then unfortunately a clean install is all you can do so back up your data and get your restore discs out.
