I am going to wipe it all out and reinstall OSX but first I wanna make sure the computer is free of problems, fact is that all seems slower than it should be, just to say one I opened the lid and it took a good 15-20 seconds to load the OS from sleep, sometimes the lag is way too long even when compared to my older 2012 11" MBA whose RAM and CPU are apparently the same.

How can I check it all is in good working conditions? There's nothing special in the startup besides an app to monitor computer stats and one to lookup for my NAS, I am just worried from the lags the computer faces, any hint would be welcome.

Thank you

Waking from hibernation can take a long time if there were a lot of open programs and data when the MacBook went into hibernation mode. Does this happen if you close all programs before closing the lid?

How full is the drive?

I have an Early 2015 13inch MBA and have no issues coming out of hibernation mode however I'm using a Samsung 950PRO NVMe M.2 drive which is nearly 3x faster than Apple's SSD drive the MBA came with.

If you haven't done so perhaps it is time to upgrade your storage drive for something much faster, and larger, than the storage drive that originally came with your Mac...

It's weird but this machine has been slow since day 1, it's similar in specs to my older 11" 2012 MBA but muuuuuch slower and there is nothing great running as to consume RAM, free space about 20GB but too many lags.

I would reinitialize but at this point am truly evaluating an upgrade to storage to get it a faster and more capable (than the stock 256GB) drive, I have read the other thread regarding M.2 and adapter but it's way long to read it all, I am in Italy and as such dunno if there is a local (by local I mean EU) source for adapters, M.2 drives no big deal I guess, Amazon would do it as usual but I am concerned about picking the right adapter-drive combo to give it a try.

I anyway need to upgrade my son's MBA 13 which came with a mere 128GB and I wonder how a kid (well, kid... he's just past 18!) does survive with 128GB, he must have at least three times as much in just music and pictures, so should I switch to M.2 solution this computer's SSD can become an upgrade for his one (should this be a solution is there any external enclosure to use the 128 apple SSD as a portable storage?).

Any suggestion re the above would be greatly appreciated

Grazie
