Hi,

I use an iMac now for a few months.
What i can't fix is the slow opening of an SMB server share (Ubuntu Samba) in finder.
When i open a share and it is very slow.
Than when i go back.....
The time to lists the shares again is very slow every time when i go to the \\servername
Is there a fix to speed up the smb client on an iMac with OSX Lion?
I also try to permanent connect the shares in prferences/user/logon but then when starting the mac it takes a very long time before i can use the shares.

I don't want to use AFP because there are a lot of windows clients in my network who al use smb.

Regards,

Fred

There are plenty of ways to speed up samba shares. But they all need to be done at the server level. Not the desktop. I don't think you can use AFP anyway if the server is Ubuntu. Not unless you have an AFP front end. Talk to your IS department if you are at work. If not, try a Linux forum for best smb transfer practices. 10.7 has a new SMB stack but slow file listing has so many break points. I see fairly fast file listings with Win 2008 server. Been a while since I hit Red Hat boxes with a new Mac.
