Slow on 8-core MacPro with 32GB

Everything with the Finder feels slower. Am I missing something?

Click CMD+N in Finder and a new window appears after a second.

Please tell me there is a fix.

Everything involving the trackpad and the user interface seems slower. Click to close/open Mail's viewer window and it seemingly happens 0.5 seconds later.

This is the current MacPro - 8-core, 3GHz; Dual AMD FirePro; 32GB of RAM.

Try the SMC / PRAM reset yet? Or repair the trackpad?

It's definitely not the track pad as the keyboard has the same molasses feel.
I'll try the SMC/PRAM later today.
