My parents always had a slow internet connection with their mini, they recently switched to Xfinity.

I was expecting their slow internet issues to be gone, but after setting up there cable modem and router I am easily getting 200Mbps on my wireless devices in their house. and the mini is stuck at 3Mbps.

I had always assumed it was slow internet, maybe it its the wifi card. It would be a pain but I could probably run an ethernet cable from the router to the computer.

Has anyone run across this?

Wireless interference is also a possibility. Unplug any USB 3.0 devices from the Mac and see if that helps? Also look at its location & what's around it.

Thanks for the reply, I tried all that, I ran an ethernet cable to it and getting 300Mbps now. I always had wifi problems with this mini, just always assumed it was the router.

Everyone is happy, between a HD with failure issues and now a wifi card, I need to start looking for a 2015 iMac for them. They hate the wires as few as there are, but this mini was good machine once I started using the external SSD.

On your router, are you using 2.4 or 5ghz bands for wifi? Changing to 5ghz and removing legacy protocols can help speed things up too.

If you think it's the internal chip that is busted, you can always try a usb wifi dongle to see if that's truly the case (if still crappy, it might be too early to blame the mini).
