SLS firewall blocking port 143

i'm struggling with this and I have tried everything

with the firewall off, mail works fine through 143
with the firewall on and every port ticked open for every user, it blocks 143

I don't get it, any ideas?

Turn the Firewall off? No need to use it if you are behind a hardware firewall.

Unless you have an insecure network on the inside. I run a firewall on my internal machines because it's just another layer of security. No security solution can protect you from everything, so layering is a good idea.
