alright, in the past week or so this minor problem began to occur. expose suddenly doesn't work, my hidden dock won't appear when I move my mouse to the bottom of the screen, when I move my mouse over my bookmarks in Safari, they don't "highlight" like usual, my mouse pointer arrow doesn't change to the "hand" when moving over links, etc.

This is very strange, when I click Safari at the top of my screen I actually have to hold down the left click to scroll down to "preferences" or "quit" or whatever. i can't single click and just drag down. i have to actually click and hold.

this all happens at once.

anyone have a solution to this? a system restart usually works, but I'm just curious as to what the source of the problem is! :)

I've seen this issue, too. Anyone know what causes it?

the only icons I change are the main hard drive and a few apps sometimes. a restart fixes the problem every time, but I don't want to have to frequently restart because of this.

how do I restart Finder? :)

Press CMD+ALT+ESC and click Finder then "relaunch".

Or load up Terminal, and type "killall Finder".

Relaunch Finder

Apple icon-force quit select finder and relaunch it.

alright. next time the problem happens I'll see if this works.

i'm just curious as to what the main source of the problem is b/c I rarely have problems with Macs.

yes indeeddy

Ive had this same problem. Minus the fact that my dock wouldnt appear, but i couldnt get expose to work until:confused:...YOU restart finder.:):D:)

Thats right restart the finder. Click Command-option-esc, click finder, and RELAUNCHHH.:apple:

com.apple.finder.plist corrupt?

Move it to the Desktop and Restart.
(should be in Users/YourUserName/Library/Preferences)

I know its a long time since this post but maybe it will help someone else out there. This happened to me recently after I bought a logictech wireless mouse. Sometimes my dock would just stop appearing and I would have to turn hiding off to get it to show. It has something to do with the mouse (in my case). To solve the problem simply unplug the mouse and plug it back in or get a new mouse if it happens too often. in my case its about once a week, i like the mouse so I can live with the slight inconvenience. Hope this helps.

I know it's yet more time since this was posted, but I just wanted to thank you for posting this solution, which worked for me!
