And if you're so concerned about the weight of the MB, go to the gym and lift some weights, you poof. That 0.5 kg or whatever weight difference between the 12" PB and the MacBook shouldn't make that much of a difference.

There might be a difference of 0.5 kg between a MB and a 12" Powerbook, but there are PC laptops, which are about half the weight of the MacBook.

You're right, but there are so many people out there who talk about how much smaller their 12" PB was, and how they refuse to get a MB because it's too big.

I have no idea what these people are talking about. I'm not a particularly strong person, but I can't tell the difference between the 12" PB and MB, and I've owned them both. I'm sure the difference exists, but surely the 1 cm difference in length and width, and the very slight weight increase isn't affecting portability.

And when you start talking about the weight of a product, think of it this way: All these laptops use the same components. We're talking about mobo, cpu, HD, fan, keyboard, LCD and the external casing. Are Sony using special components that weigh less? Probably not.

I don't want to buy a casing that weighs less. If they're all using plastic, but Apple is using more, then that's fine with me. I wouldn't want something less sturdy. But if everyone else was using carbon fibre or something while Apple was still using this same plastic, then sure, I guess you really should be asking Apple some questions. Carbon fibre wouldn't provide much more rigidity anyway since we're not using this plastic edge-on, but whatever.

the size and weight make a difference when you're carrying things around all day and want to minimize your load. there are tons of ppl for whom the MacBook is just simply too big. after going to 12", it's very hard to go back. the extra size it just not wanted. if anything, ppl would like the thing smaller. i'm really hoping MacWorld brings the 12" pro laptop back. it's unconscionable how they've made us wait so long. i've upgraded my 12" to the hilt, but there's no question it's a little long in the tooth. i don't know how ppl with older models are still hanging on...

this is a no-brainer. subcompact machines might not be for everyone, but lots of us are pining for one from Apple.

Me and many others are all for a full featured 13" WS MBP with choice of display like the rest of the line-up.

None of this shared VRAM stuff just because it's the small one.

While ultra portables may be desirable to some, not having a full sized
fingerboard is a major PITA

We might have to wait for the Penryn models before we see one, but 45 nm
production also means that ATI and NVidia might also be able to reduce the size, heat and energy consumption in the near future.

That equates to a powerful, highly portable notebook with an average 8 hour battery life or better.
