sprint by me had a line wrapped around outside.

in and out within 10mins at target. had an 8am appt :)

Line of about 40 people at the AT&T in Carrollwood (Tampa) this morning at 8:30. News reports "hundreds" at the Apple store at International Plaza.

I walked into an AT&T store in Oldsmar and bought 2 phones with no line. If the Apple store was the only source I'd understand the lines, but this just sounds silly to me.

I walked into a bestbuy in aurora, IL and there were 2 people getting iPhones. The best buy store I was at earlier that morning, there were 7 of us in line for the 9 total iPhones they got.

I think the record for "Smallest iPhone Lines Ever" will forever be the Verizon launch?

YouTube: Mall of America Verizon Launch
That video just seems crazy because with all the carriers on the same upgrade schedule then we'll probably never see a launch like that again.

I stood in line for the iphone 4 , but this year no need for it pre-order went through and arrived at my home exactly at 8 am which was when the phones went on sale.

I think the lines are smaller because more folks this year were able to pre-order.

No lines in western Canada at Rogers or the Apple store for contract purchases, but the line at the Apple Store for unlocked phones was about 200 or so...

I never thought I would hear people complaining that Apple put too many phones into their partner locations so the lines to purchase were too SHORT!

They sold a record number of phones in the first week...and apparently learned from the last launch that they needed to get many more into the marketplace than they thought...

Good on you Apple.

Boy, Wait until the iPhone 5 DOES come out. Bet THOSE lines will be insane.

Wife pre ordered as I was still undecided if I was going to bother upgrading. I decided yesterday on way to work to go ahead and swing by the mall @ 7:30am. Walked in ...enjoyed some free breakfast at AT&T store. Was out and off to work by 8:05. There was only maybe 25 people in line when I got there...when I left maybe a 100. Interestingly enough Verizon kiosk had only 3 people and the Sprint store had a sign on front window saying "NO iPHONES" LOL.

My wife on the other hand didn't get her phone till 5 ish from the brown truck and spent almost 5 hours trying to activate it.....LOL

Moral of the story she was pissed and I was already bored with my new iPhone...LOL

Ups driver said she had 73 iPhones on her schedule yesterday. People got smart this time and preordered.

I went about 2 in the afternoon, best buy had no lines they were sold out, RadioShack was sold out , and the AT&T store sold out. There was a line at the AT&T store though! It was for people who ordered online and were having trouble activating!!!

I walked right into AT&T store about 3 hours after they opened and bought 2 new iPhones. Guy said they had tons left. I guess most people pre-ordered. I pre-ordered too, at 10:30 am EST at AT&T store, but still don't know when my phones are coming. He said that the stores did not actually submit their orders to Apple until around midnight on pre-order day. Last time I'm ever ordering from an AT&T store.

I live in the capital of my state and we only had maybe 15 in line at one of the bigger AT&T stores in our city. I actually went to one of the Apple stores right after I got my phone to get a bumper and at 8:30 they only had 25 people in line.

My phone was DOA though and when I went into a different Apple store later that night to exchange they had no lines at 7:30 and said the line ended around 10:30 am.

Seems like a slower launch but toooons of preorders.

This. I was a walk-in purchase and the AT&T manager told me this is by far the largest inventory they've received for an iPhone launch. He said he's been there for all 5 iPhone launch days.

I pre-ordered from VZW and was scheduled to be delivered the 21st. Read online that everyone had a really good supply so I walked into my local VZW store and told them the phone color and size I wanted. Guy goes in the back brings it out and I say I have a pre-order to cancel and he said actually we can't cancel those pre-orders because VZW has guaranteed the phone to you and they want you to keep the pre-order or some crap.

So I'm standing at the counter with the phone I want right there but the rep won't let me buy it. I then told the rep I would call customer service to see if I could cancel. After 20mins I finally was able to explain to a customer service rep the situation and she said oh yeah no problem I just have to cancel the pre-order. She does and I leave with the new iPhone 10mins later.

I preordered mine at Radioshack being the only person there when it opened. They had a hard time activating it so I went to the ATT store down the street and I asked about how their turnout was. They said no campers, but their phones sold out. My friend who worked at the Apple store in my area said they had campers starting at 9 pm.
