Im still under warranty so I can go to apple anytime before january of next year to have it replaced. so for the time being Im gonna rock my mous 2.0.

I got one a week ago, I used it Saturday and am using it again today. And I swear it’s dying faster than my phone does.

Saturday we played pokemon(yeah, yeah), and I can normally play just over 3 hours and my phone is basically dead. I played for maybe 3.5 hours and my phone was at like 5% with the case on Saturday. So basically the same.

I got an open box, should I return for a new one?

Had mine about a month...took it off last weekend. I put it back on today and it's doing the connected/not connected thing and I'm getting a message on my lock screen to unlock my phone to use the "USB accessory." I wish I could just get my money back but it'll probably be time to begin the endless return/replace cycle.

The Smart Battery Case on my mom's iPhone 7 kept making the charging noise whenever she plugged in the charger for about a week, and she'd find that her battery was less than 20% in the morning. I charged the case and phone separately for a couple of days and it seems to have done the trick.
The Smart Battery Case on my backup iPhone 7 keeps giving me the "unlock phone to use USB accessory" message but it doesn't seem to affect charging yet.

I don't remember exactly, but I think both cases were purchased late December 2018 or early January 2019.

I wonder if Apple pulled them from their stores because of this issue? I notice that every store in the Phoenix area is out of Xs and Xs Max battery cases until Aug 14 and that the online store has a delivery window of Jul 31-Aug 11

Check back in a few days and those dates keeps pushing further away. Been like this since May.

I needed a replacement a few weeks ago (it showed at least 6 weeks online for a new one) and they got my replacement in a few days. So there must be some extra cases laying around somewhere.

I ended up selling my new replacement Apple battery case as they wouldn’t refund and just kept offering a replacement.

After having 3 cases doing the same thing after 2 months of use it’s obvious there is something wrong with the quality.

I believe there is definitely an issue with the case just becoming loose over time.

I found this £15 battery case I don’t know how long it will last but even if last more then 2 months that’s only £15 compare to the £130.

The third party isn’t built as quality on initial inspection however it’s definitely lighter smaller and has bigger battery. Will update on how it goes.

My iPhone XS smart battery case is doing the same thing. I keep getting the “unlock phone to use USB accessory" message, but also, isn’t affecting the charging The phone does a slight vibrate and requires an unlock at random times throughout the day. Also purchased in January of 2019.

It only started occurring within the last ~1.5 months. I wonder if something in one of the 12.x updates is causing this bug/annoyance?

The Smart Battery Case on my mom's iPhone 7 needs to be charged separately again, which is what she's been doing for the past week. Such a pain.
The Smart Battery Case on my backup iPhone 7 no longer has the "unlock the phone to use USB accessory" message anymore. I haven't done anything differently.
Also, I don't know if this makes any difference, but my mom's Smart Battery Case is red and was bought from an Apple store. The case for my backup iPhone 7 is black and was bought from Best Buy.

Wow I just discovered the same thing. The rubber that they used seems to slightly stretch over time and when the phone is pushed down it's fine but like the YouTube video, any movement up and the phone stops charging. Ours is in white and I wondered if that was a possible cause as white rubber can have issues due to the colouring used but as people seem to be having an issue with the black I think it's a flaw in the design. I suspect if I were to pad the top inside of the case with a 1mm something it would stop the issue until it stretches a bit more again but it seems crazy.
We got our case in Easter so it's still under warranty but we are literally in the back of beyond to try and go to an apple store.
We are on latest iOS 12.3.1 with iPhone X phones as a fyi.

Did the previously years ones have this issue as well or is it this gens cases?

I notice the UK delivery times are also pretty crazy with stores expecting to get them end of August and Amazon also doesn't have stock of most of the models except the new pink one with a backlog on the white X's model and the rest are temporarily unavailable which makes me think there may be a wider problem.

Apple is replacing mine under warranty. Once I get the new one I'm going to sell it and cut my losses...too many people are having this issue. I'll just go back to carrying an external battery.

Did anyone get it replaced when they were using it on an X?
I will have to do it over phone that's all as there is no apple store near to me.

Mine eventually got loose and would so in and out of charging constantly. And why is it that it seems every wireless case has such a small wireless charging target? Once I find it, I am good, but it is a pain to get it started sometimes. If I take off the case and wireless charge the phone, I can just set it in the general area and it will always start charging.

I have a feeling 12 was the culprit too; although, I will have to see. I was getting the USB message until I turned on USB for lock screen, but then it would always go in and out of charge. Not sure if that was 12 or the loosening though. Got a different case until yesterday when I thought I'd give it a try again. No going in and out of charge. But I don't know if maybe it relaxed back to close its original stretch or if 12 was the culprit since I am on 13PB3 now.

Looks like some Apple stores are now re-stocking this as I noticed so I'm curious if there are any updates or revisions to the case?
Wonder this also. If I hear they are allowing exchanges for a fixed version, I might make an appointment.

My mom's Product Red Smart Battery Case for her iPhone 7 completely stopped charging. Although the case had the green light indicating that it was fully charged, when she put the case on her phone, there was no charging animation in the status bar and no battery status on her widgets page. I took the case back to the Apple store for a warranty exchange.

How has your case been? Still experiencing the USB message? My case seems to have gotten better with 12.4 which is weird. Occasionally I get the vibration like I just connected the smart batter case.
