Hey guys!
New user here! Big Apple Fan Boy! I’ve had every model of iPhone since 3GS, except the 11. I currrently have the XS Max. Anyway, I have the Smart Battery case, as I spend a huge amount of time on my phone for work. I plan on getting the 12 Pro when it launches. Any idea if Apple will continue making the Smart Battery cases for the new iPhone? Hopefully they release fun new colors of the case!

My guess would be yes. They seem to do pretty well might as well keep it going

No guarantees, but I don’t see why not. They’ve done every generation since the 6s (missing the 8/X generation), so they’ll probably continue as long as they are selling.

Yup. And even the 8 can use the 7 case case and the X can use the XS case

I’m sure they well but honestly, battery life is so good now but I just don’t really see a need for it anymore.

Any word on how much better the battery life will be than the XS Max? I basically live on my phone for work. 3-4 conference calls daily. Emails, texts, and when I travel I use it for entertainment. Without my smart battery case I was down to 20% within 7 hours. The smart battery case was the best investment I’ve ever made.

The last phone I had it with was the 6S, but I remember it giving me basically another full cycle. So yeah, if you get one for your XS or the 12 when it comes out, you'll have no issue making it throughout the day.

I hope they come out with one for the 12 Pro Max. I can run mine down from 100% to 20% within 5 hours on my XS Max. The battery life on this phone has dramatically decreased since the start of the summer.

I still don't understand why they never made an 8 when the 8 was the first wireless charging. Couldn't even get one for SE2020 that would wirelessly charge so went with Mophie instead.

Amazon has the 7 battery case (fits the SE) for $50

I think it was because even though it isn’t specifically listed that way (due to no wireless charging), the Smart Battery case for the 7 works with the 8 and the 2020 SE. They are even still selling it in the Apple Store even though they stopped selling the 7 about a year ago.

I had the weirdest issue with my XS battery case. I had charging issues, which are covered under the replacement program, and they gave me a beat up box that had an “inspected” sticker on it and the case had cosmetic damage. This was last month. Well that case was having issues, so I got it swapped again, but they gave me a brand new one in new condition, no “inspected” sticker or anything. Is this normal?

I do know that some of these smart cases you can use on other models. Prior to pre-ordering my 12, would Apple know if any of the current Smart Cases would be able to be used on any of the 12 models?

I would like to see a MagSafe battery similar to the wallet. You could snap it on when you need the extra charge or remove it when you don’t want the bulk or want to switch to the wallet. Should be very doable with the new MagSafe tech.

I liked mine too but a year later the charging is sporadic. It makes me weary about buying one for the 12 Pro I plan on ordering, but it’s the only battery case that supports pass through CarPlay.

This for me will be the coolest part of the iPhone 12.

They really built an ecosystem starter with magsafe.

I love my smartcase but if I could simply take it on at other (without have to remove the phone as I currently do) I think this is the best of all possible worlds.

I do wonder if the 12 pro would work in the 11 since size is similar.

I can confirm the 12 pro doesn’t fit the 11 pro 😝

update: 12 pro does fit the 11 case. However, it wouldn't charge. Obviously the camera was slightly off.

MagSafe magnetic battery would be an instant winner. Magnets hold it on and it charges, take off when not needed. If it recharged USB-C it would be a bonus.

But would work with several generations of future iPhones if they have MagSafe, they need a way to make it model specific to keep revenue flowing.
