I got the Smart Cover for my iPad Pro but I noticed the cover doesn't align perfectly with the edges of the device. It seems it's actually bigger than the iPad Pro display itself! I have an iPad Air with a smart cover, and edges are perfectly aligned.

Is anyone's iPad Pro Smart Cover like this?

That's how they all are. It's so when used in conjunction with the silicone case there is something to grab to open it. I first noticed it on the iPad mini 4 Smart Cover.

Hope that helps.

I like the Smart Cover for everyday use but need a full cover when I leave the house or office.

Thanks, that makes a lot of sense.

I’m not the biggest Microsoft fan in the word, but the Surface Pro 4 actually IS a post-PC device.
This topic has nothing to do with comparing iPad Pro with Surface Pro.

Would this work?

I just noticed this recently with the iPad mini 4 and the new smart covers. The cover is slightly wider than the iPad itself. I guess the reason for it is so it lines up when used with the rear silicone case as well. Too bad, really enjoy just the iPad + smart cover.

I picked up the smart cover for my pro yesterday, and also noticed the edges tend to go past the edge of the iPad itself. Since I'm not planning on purchasing the silicone back cover, it bothers me as well.

Something that has always bothered me about the smart covers(not sure about the iPad 2 cover - never had one) is how much wiggle room they have for slipping up and down. I sort of wish they had magnets around all of the edges to keep it more firmly attached to the screen(and rear when open). I dealt with it and kept the iPad Air cover, but I feel like the larger size of the smart cover for the iPP has just exacerbated this problem, and I'm probably going to return it.

Not sure what I'm going to do yet, because without some sort of cover, I cringe just a little each time I set it down on a hard surface, but I prefer the 'naked' feel...so, we'll see! :)

I kind of miss the iPad 2 smart cover. That original one with the metal hinge had no movement at all, always felt solid.

Me too! I had a leather one on my iPad 3, and it was perfection! I was very disappointed in the iPad Pro version and promptly returned it.

The leather cases were awesome - I have one for my Air. The new designs suck in comparison. I bought a cheap $15 smart cover case on Amazon and it's just as nice as Apple's. Not as good as the leather cases but oh well, not an option anyway.
