Smart Cover Serial Number

Can you Smart Cover owners verify how many digits your serial numbers are? Mines is 17. Just wanted to make sure I had a legit one.

The serial number is located on the metal latch on right

Serial number??? My iPad2 and smart cover were ordered and delivered thru Apple's online store in March. Only one has a serial number, and it's not the smart cover.

Maybe a change necessitated by knockoffs, adding serial numbers?

Look closely at the the silver hinges on the right. You'll see what I'm talking about

I can't imagine a counterfeit case factory would bother to add a serial number.

I got mine at an Apple Store and it has a serial number

You're absolutely correct! But I'd need a good magnifying glass to actually read those tiny numbers. 😱

I just bought one as well but im doubting if original or fake..
If there is a serial number then for sure its ok or also fakes got a s/n now?
