iPad Smart Cover

I love having my Air just by itself but I've considered a screen protector just to somewhat to keep it clean. I've heard that the smart covers for the Air don't magnetize well and don't lay flat. Is that true?

I have the black Smart Cover on my Air. No problems with it at all.

mine did not lay flat. magnets worked fine. Returning mine though because i can't justify 40$ for just a small flap :/
