I went with the overly expensive keyboard folio only cause I think this product is best as a laptop hybrid.
Huh? I don't think the new iPads have a Smart Keyboard that's just the keyboard. All of them are folios.

I picked up both. Each has its uses; I travel a lot for work and find using the folio in airplanes to watch movies very nice. The rest of the time, I generally run with the keyboard folio since I have more room. But, if I had to choose one, I’d choose the keyboard folio as it sort of does what the normal folio does and then some.

I have been wondering about this for air flights...
For now I am using my 10.5” iPad Pro for such situations

Both are very expensive; I personally find the smart folio offensively overpriced for what it is (ymmv). The keyboard is pricey but indispensable, and I can just about see where my money is going.

I can't see myself typing on the keyboard folio for any length of time so I opted for the regular folio and when I want to type I will pair it with a small mechanical keyboard.

I went with the smart folio. As I've said elsewhere, holding the keys of the keyboard underneath while I hold the cover back just wasn't comfortable to me. Didn't care for the feel of it. Also this position is one I often use during my work, which isn't possible with the keyboard folio.
