..or ‘cheapo’ case and your choice of keyboard?

All cases deteriorate over time so you’re losing both ways with the folio once it starts to fall apart and you can get much better Bluetooth keyboards to pair up if you’re heavily into typing.

What are the pro’s for the Smart Keyboard Folio?

I have a first edition iPad Pro, 12.9” that I purchased a smart keyboard for when I got it. I have had the keyboard replaced once and the replacement one is now not working 3/4’s of the time. I plan on upgrading to the new iPad at some point but I will never get the Smart Keyboard again. They just don’t last.

I'm planning on using a mechanical keyboard of some kind with mine. I have way too many keyboards, so I'm not sure which one, but it might be bluetooth or it might just be USB. Either way, I'm not planning on doing a lot of typing most of the time, so it doesn't make sense to have a keyboard that is going to be permanently attached. I'm just getting the folio cover.

Pros for the ASK:

No need to pair.
No need to charge.
Slim and part of the package, not a separate part.
Easy to remove if you want to use the iPad without it.
I like the feel of the ASK, but that’s a personal preference.

I guess I’m lucky. So far, my iPP 9.7 ASK (over two years old) is working fine, my iPP 10.5” ASK (purchased on release day) is working fine, and I’m loving my ASK for my iPP 11.

I just got done “skinning” my iPP 11 keyboard folio, along with the iPad.

I’m a big ASK fan. I did have one stop working after about 9 months, but Apple replaced it for free (and the ipad, actually). I love the feel, the use of a smart connector instead of bluetooth, and I love the compactness. Its always there, and I use it a lot. I wouldn’t use a separate keyboard nearly as much.

Like using the keyboard with both angles. I’m actually using it in the stand up straight stand makes it feel more like a laptop while giving me the normal iPad experience.
