Hi Guys,

I have a question. Today by mistake

in my iPad when you click the Music APP> down below>in playlist, there are some already inbuilt, default presets smart play list available which are given by Apple (Please see image-1)

By Mistake I deleted one of the smart play list called " Recently Played" (See image-2 & 3)

This "Recently Played Smart Play list" used to show a entry of whatever and whichever songs that I play in my device.

Since I deleted it, I again Created a "Recently Played" Smart Playlist in iTunes (see image-4) and synced my device with iTunes

The "Recently Played" Smart Play list again came back to my device (See Image-5)

But is still not showing entry of whatever songs that I play in my device

Please check all the images.

What Can I do ? Please help guys.

Thanks in Advance !

You've set it up correctly, I could be wrong on this, its been a long time since I've checked. But I'm sure the smart playlists for recently played and the like only used to update once, or maybe twice, a day.
Maybe give it 24 hours and see if it syncs up. If not I'm completely wrong and ill have to update my knowledge :D

No It has been 24 Hours and still the song is not showing up in the recently played smart playlist.

I have a question further, if someone deletes the inbuilt smrat playlist which comes along when you buy a new iPad, if someone deletes that by mistake can it be recreated and start showing recently played entry ? or once you delete it is gone forever something like that ?

Out of curiosity I just deleted my own Recently Played Smart Playlist and recreated it to see what happened.

Initially it didn't work, until I set it exactly as the original Apple one is set, I'll put the pic below, then I had to go into the iTunes settings and deselect "Sync playback information across devices" and immediately reselect it. Once I'd done that it all synced up to Apple Music on my iPhone within seconds.

iTunes and Music on your devices keep a track of when and how often songs are played by default, even if you don't have those playlists, so when you make or recreate one, everything should show up as before.

Still didn't get it ? what are you suggesting ? what do you suggest I should do ? If you could please put it in steps ? I did the same thing, while creating a smart playlist I gave the same conditions, check my picture below.

Except for doing this "Sync playback information across devices" and immediately reselect it

where would you find it ?

Edit : Ok, I see it is in Edit> Preferences> stores in itunes so are you suggesting first I connect my device to iTunes and then select and reselect this option ? "Sync playback information across devices" ?

In your case did it show the entry of recently played when you played a song ? when you said you deleted it and again created it !

Firstly in your smart playlist, change "Last Played in the last" to 2 weeks. Then uncheck the "Limit to" as well. Just so it matches the image I posted, that's the way the default Apple one is set up.

You don't need to connect your device (unless you don't use iCloud or Apple Music, in which case you will need to connect your device and perform a sync.)

Now that I have mine set up again as the default Apple one. Then deselected "Sync playback information across devices", quit iTunes. Then start it back up and reselected "Sync playback information across devices", quit iTunes and finally start it up again. Everything is syncing up automatically and properly on all of my devices, including songs I've just played. Though I use iCloud and Apple music, so I don't need to manually sync the devices.

you said just to check you also deleted the Smart Playlist provided by apple default you also deleted the " Recently Played" smart playlist right ? so when you created it did it show the entry of last played song ? and how do you know what apple had given as default conditions in the "Recently Played" Smart Playlist ? did you observe take a screenshot of the "Recently Played" Conditions set" before deleting it ?
[doublepost=1459591656][/doublepost]Nope still not working !

Ok what this did was it is showing the last played videos in the last 2 weeks but it is not showing the music track that I played last.

And by the way I was talking about my Device " Recently Played" not showing entry not iTunes !

I had a look before I deleted it. But it shouldn't really matter. I just created one called My Recents and set it up as you had in your first post and it's appeared straight away on my iPhone and iPad, with all of the matching songs. So anything should sync.

Do you use iCloud and/or Apple Music?

The only other thing I can think of to try and force a sync might be, on your iPhone/iPad, in the Music app where your playlists are theres a heading which probably says "All Playlists v" (the v is just a downward pointing arrow)

You could try tapping on that to bring up the menu and enable the toggle for "Only Downloaded Music" then disable it again, fully quit the Music app from the task switcher (double press the home button and swipe the Music app to the top of the screen until it disappears) Then start it up again and see if it's forced the sync to happen.

:( still not showing in "Recently Played" in my device !

Do you use iCloud, Apple Music, both or neither? Just so I can try and figure out where the problem is happening.
