Smart Playlists, iTunes Match and my iPhone

Maybe you can also help with this frustration:

The top 25 Playlist on my iPhone is about 2K songs. The recently played playlist adds new songs to the bottom of the list when it adds songs at all (sometimes songs are played on the phone and they don't get added to the recently played playlist).

Does anyone know what is making smart playlists act so wacky? I thought that Match was supposed to carry over the play counts and other meta data from iTunes on the desktop.

Am I missing a setting?

I wish I could say you were the only one experiencing these issues. At this point I have my fingers crossed for a fix in the next iOS update, but I'm not holding my breath.
