Which is the better setup ipad pro with a smart cover + (new magic keyboard) £128 total versus the smartkeyboard at £139

Just interested what people use. I currently only have the smart cover as there was no keyboards on launch.

Downside to SmartCover and Magic Keyboard is that you won't be able to place it on your lap to type. Also the Smart Keyboard offers the same functions as the SmartCover.

I have both, and prefer the Smart Keyboard setup personally. The other setup remains in a drawer for the niche situations in which I may need it.

I use both but find myself using the Smart Keyboard more then then the Smart Cover.

There's pros and cons to both but I personally prefer the Smart Keyboard option. It's lightweight, I find it excellent for typing on and it's always there without having to carry a separate keyboard.

Plus there's the advantage of being able to easily and comfortably type away using the Smart Keyboard on your lap, not so good with the other combination.

Everyone has their preferences but to me the Smart Keyboard is amongst the best keyboard options for an iPad I've ever used. I'm not fussed about backlit keys, the screen provides enough light to see in low light situations

Not particularly bothered about the lack of dedicated function keys, the keyboard shortcuts do fine for most things and the couple it doesn't, well it's hardly a hardship to touch the screen considering it's right in front of me.

I have heard that the smart keyboard offers not all the folding and position options that the Smart Cover does. Can someone explain the differences?

With the Smart Keyboard, you can only do the upright position. If you try to do the flat position, it collapses.

Thanks for the information. That would be a big limitation for me, especially in meetings where you do not want to build such a big "wall" between you and your opponent. That is the reason why I use a tablet and not a laptop in such situations. Can you at least flip the keyboard back if you use in the upright position? Most of time I don't need the keyboard permanently "in the way" in front of me.

You mean like this?

You can also just fold the cover flat against the back, or even just simply pull it off when you aren't using the keyboard. Magnets! :D

That picture says more than 1000 words...Although I still miss the flat angled position of the Smart Cover .....

I just found this post by someone who claims this is stable.

I think that's the same position I tried that kept collapsing, but maybe it's different somehow? I'd need to go to the store to try it again. I decided not to get the Smart Keyboard and just use a Bluetooth keyboard with my iPP.

I'd love someone to make an adjustable stand that can clip on via the magnets. I'm loving the surface pro folding hinge and find I'm using the shallow angle a lot.

The Logitech create keyboard case says it has a shallow angle as well as the upright angle for typing - could be a decent option? Bi heavy though
