Smashed my ipad 2 screen, options?

A pyrex measuring jug fell out a cupboard and bounced on to it 🙁

I know you were proably using it, but i always lay my devices face down... you never know... Like this case, thinks, people, etc fall more often than not. I wish you luck.

Guys guys, it is an accident. It happens to everybody. Yes, you should take precautions when doing things in life but if it is going to happen, it will happen.

I never purchased extended warranty/insurance before but SquareTrade had a 40% off promo and I thought iPad2 is thin enough/small enough to drop, so I got it. That is the best you can do I guess since accidents happen.

Also it is just a stupid iPad, no biggie. I wish God gives this kind of accidents to everyone. These are little things, enjoy your life in health!

They are going to replace it for free! Will just have to wait for a service part to come in since it wasnt a UK unit.

Brilliant news. I'm really happy for you. I had a crack in my iPhone 4 from accidental damage and had to pay £139. Others have been lucky with a "one-time-replacement" but c'est la vie...

Not saying the original would have survived this - but it likely would have had a better chance...

Actually tests have proven the thinner glass is more durable because it is more flexible. Also the full adhesive ring around the edges provides better support. The assumption thinner is more fragile is simply not true. Tests have proven if any it is actually slightly better resisting. Anandtech.com had an expert reveal the glass has additives that make it stronger, and mentioned the better support.

This breakage is clearly not a faulty ipad design. It is simply an improper storage spot of a heavy item that if it slips and falls, something bad can happen. You know what happened. Don't blame Apple. be honest.

But the fault actually suggests a better storage spot for the pyrex measuring cup should be considered.

Lol after reading this post I went directly to best buy and bought an incase book case. I plan on returning this within 90 days if apple fixes the backlight bleed.

I cant see how this is apple's issue at all....they might be kind if your really lucky and they are trying to negate negative press issues.

There's nothing wrong with wishful thinking.

But Apple thrives off any press and they seek it. Good or bad, Apple loves the press & they love Apple. It's win- win for everyone but the customer.
