i own a low end 2.4 ghz penryn mbp,
i am very impressed with the performance i get from it,
yerp, i know about the gpu glitch
i use smc fancontrol all the time to keep my system cool,
Is there such a thing as over cooling?
i played a few games with out using fancontrol but found that the system was getting so hot i bet i could cook an egg on it.
i usually keep the fan going at 2500 or 3000 during normal use depending on the weather. this keeps the system at 38 - 45 degrees Celsius.
when playing a game i put the fans on 4500 - 5000.
this keeps the cpu between 45 - 55 degrees Celsius
and the gpu at 55 - 60 degrees Celsius.
this keeps the system very cool
is this over cooling cause i know apple only revs the fans once the cpu and gpu reach 70 degrees Celsius.
thank you all!!

i've been doing this ever since i started getting graphics glitches on my old MBP that directly corresponded to the heat of the GPU.

that, and it keeps the bottom of the machine just a little cooler.

try fan control though. it gives you more control, but lacks ability to use different settings when on battery vs power adapter.
