smcfancontrol problem

hi
has anyone tried to use smcfancontrol with a new macbook pro? when i try and open it (the latest version 2.1.2) nothing happens. i copy to my aps directory, double click, it looks like it launches but nada, nothing happens

any ideas?

All I've tried with it was to move the slider up. It worked for me but I didn't knew you could assign aplication. My MacBook Pro is new.

I don't think it is a good idea to use hardware control apps.

If you've tried some other software to do the same thing before (Fan Control comes to mind), smc will not work until you have completely deleted each and every file of your previous software.
