Hey guys,

So I installed smcFanControl today and I'm pretty impressed; my MacBook Pro was hot to the touch and within 5 minutes of the fans running at 6k RPM it was cool to the touch. However I have a few questions;

When I set it to "default" which is at 2k RPM, will OS X still change the fan settings on its own when the computer gets hot? If not, if I quit the application will OS X take over again?

Is there any harm in running the fans high for too long?

Thanks!

Yes, OSX will still ramp the fan speed when needed.
If you quit the app, OSX takes over and defaults to its own settings.

No harm in running full tilt except for annoying your ears😉 (or coworkers in my case)
