SMS alert volume

Forgive me if this is posted somewhere else. Does anyone know a way to turn up the volume for text message alerts? I have my ring volume all the way up, but when a text comes in I can barely hear it. If I'm in another room, forget it.

I also have this problem. The alerts would benefit from playing for a longer period than they do too.

Yes, this is a weak point on the iPhone. Your best bet is to choose the most audible of the tones. 'Glass' works best for my ears.
