Anyone know what I am talking about? I think this started with the iPhone 4 as I don't recall having this problem prior.

I go to send a TXT and as it's sending, I hit the "Messages" button at the top left to go back. Instead, my TXT conversation auto scrolls all the way back to the top. Which I didn't want it to do. So I scroll back down and then hit the button again. Again, it happens.

Sometimes it does not do it. It also seems to be more of a problem when it's sending. When I am just going back after sending, it's more likely to actually go back and not auto scroll up.

It's very annoying. I know darn well I am hitting the button and I am not double tapping or anything. It's starting to peeve me. Please tell me someone else has this dumb problem. :(

I know what you're talking about OP this started on the last update before 4.0 came out...or it might have came with 4.0...before buying my iP4 I remember upgrading my 3GS to the latest software version and this would happen all the time and I know I was hitting the messages button...others have talked about this on the forums I don't expect Apple to do anything about this

If I hit the top side of the button it will scroll to the top(Guess I am brushing the status bar).... Which I would not care about if they gave us a similar way to scroll to the bottom...

Have also noticed this a lot more than with any previous iPhone...my messages ALWAYS seem to be at the top of the list.

Also, when you're writing a long message, does the box not scroll to show what you're typing unless you stop typing for a second? Very annoying!

You're missing the button. That's the behavior that occurs when you tap the status bar at the top of the display.

Nope. I'm hitting the button for sure.

I have tested it before and tested it again. I can hit the button, the top of the status bar above the button and a little below the button. I can even hit to the right of the button a little. All those taps take me back to the messages. In order to make it auto scroll, I have to tap the area where the clock is or a tad bit to the left of it. Anywhere up there and over will auto scroll.

I made it a point many times to carefully touch the messages button while sending and it STILL auto scrolls back up. I have done it like 3 times in a row. Every time I hit the button unless it's like right dead center or something, it doesn't go back. However, just testing it - it works every single time.

Perhaps it's something while a TXT is being sent that fouls it up? I don't know. All I know is I am hitting the button and it's not going back. Trust me.

i think i have the same problem as you cept for me when i am typing a text it'll hit return randomly.. >_>;. seems to happen less since i updated to 4.1

I have also experienced this since getting the iPhone 4. Prior to this with the 3G I never had this problem. I've just been attributing it to missing the button but with other people reporting this is a new issue in 4.0 maybe it's a legit bug

well if you happen to hit the status bar that scrolls it up, when you go back into the individual message from the SMS screen it will bring you back to the bottom.

and i havent had the problem, i think you're missing the button.

I'm glad I'm not the only one having this issue. Seems lots of people are "missing the button". :)

I honestly think it's a glitch.

I've never had this problem before, but ever since I got my iPhone 4 I also see it. I'll admit, maybe I'm missing the button and hitting the status bar. But it's odd I never had the problem on my 3GS with 3.x software.
