I've searched the forums but haven't seen any specific mentions to this yet. I constantly get an SMS Error Sending Message even when I have 2 bars of signal. It keeps saying "Error Sending Message". It seems like I have to have more than 2 bars to be able to send a message.

And normally, I would be fine with this as long as it would queue up my message like my Blackjack would. But with the iPHone, I have to walk around until I can find a strong signal to get my message out whereas the Blackjack would just queue it up until it could get a signal.

Anyone else having these issues?

Yeah...I have noticed the SMS sending failures as well. I haven't paid attention to the level of service at the time. For me, it seemed like it was more related to a specific contact because I was sending to other people right after that just fine. Usually when I would get the failure, I could just resend and it would go through. But, this is a pretty big problem in my book.

GSM SMS is sent over the signalling/control channels. It is a very strongly encoded part of the signal. A "two bars" signal strength should not cause SMS failures.

I'm in the Dallas area...not sure if they were just having network issues at the time. Yesterday (6/12) was the first time I noticed the problem.

I'm lucky if 3 bars will send it. Even at 3 bars it's a 50/50 chance. EDGE is the same way. I can't access EDGE unless I have perfect 4 bars...

Very stupid.

SMS Failure

I think this problem does not have to do with signal. For some reasons when you reply to certain numbers/contacts it does not allow you to do so. You have to clear the conversation/messages and then try to send the message. That has worked for me. I am still investigating why it does that. Hope it helps...
