I have Text Message Forwarding enabled on my iPhone so that I can read and reply to SMS text messages on my Mac. However, when I read an SMS message on my iPhone, it doesn't mark the message as read on my Mac. So if I'm out of the house and have an SMS text message conversation with an Android user, when I come back home and open my MacBook the red badge on the dock icon of the Messages application shows a bunch of unread messages.

Read status syncs just fine for iMessages, this problem only happens with regular text messages. Any advice?

Saw it as well a few days ago. I turned off/on iCloud Messages on Mac to see if that clears things up. So far, seems to be working.

It has been this way for me for years, even when I bought a new iPhone and MacBook and configured them from scratch. I've tried turning off/on iCloud Messages in the past and unfortunately that hasn't worked.
