If anyone out there is smart enough to figure this one out I'd appreciate it

I have had SMS relay working for quite a while between my iPhone 6 and iPad Air 2. Both were on iOS 8.2 when a few days ago I realized I could no longer text people from my iPad. The SMS relay was no longer setup for some reason. When I try to re-set it up my iPhone gives me the standard message "Enter the code shown on your iPad to allow..."
BUT no code pops up on my iPad. So I have no way to proceed.

Both are now fully updated to iOS 8.3
Both are on the same iCloud account
Both are on the same wifi network.

I have no clue what to do.

Thanks in advance

Solved it myself (in case anyone else has this issue).

I checked the addresses listed in Settings->Messages->Send & Receive. They didn't match on both. I fixed it so that they matched and it started working again.
