sms texting (non apple users)

Can you not text people when not connected to your phone? I tried texting someone and it just spun its wheels (until I connected to my phone again)

If it’s a cellular Apple Watch then I think it should work. Although I haven’t personally tried it.

it is, I was doing an update and tried sending a normal sms to someone and it just spun its wheels, thought maybe if i turned wifi off it would work, but it still didn't send. Then finally when it connected to my watch it sent.

Why don’t you restart the watch the turn off the phone and give it a go again?

Did your iPhone connected to internet. You need your iPhone to be connected to be able to send SMS on your cellular watch.

Like @matrix07 said, the phone must be connected to the internet for SMS. iMessage, however, doesn’t require this.

There’s an article here about different phone connection requirements for different functions. Not sure if this applies to your case, hope it helps.
