sms to multiple recipients

I changed my cell number and want to sent a notice out to let few friends know about it from iphone.
I know i can select multiple recipients in sms and do it that way.

However 2 yrs ago, i remember sending to 2 ppl and when i replied just to me, the other recipient rec it too.

Just want to make sure that if my friends do reply that it doesnt go as reply all!

When someone responds back it comes up as in a single chat view. So when you reply to him it just goes out to him and not to the whole group.

That being said, my iPhone 4 doesn't even have the group messaging feature you are referring to. I am NOT jailbroken and on the latest OS.

Must be carrier specific. It's on my verizon iPhone and was on my AT&T one previously.
