SMTP settings in iPhone vs Mail using mobile me

Do the port settings need to be the same in both the iphone and mail app on a mac for push to work?

Will push work if one device uses smtp.mac.com and other device uses smtp.me.com?

Will push work if each device uses a different port?

Not sure if this helps but both the iPhone and Mail will automatically set up the accounts for MobileMe, I did it this way and I get PUSH on both with no extra messing with the settings.
