Snapchat has always been a battery hog but I've never had this issue. It's similar to the Facebook one recently but not as bad. I'm getting a lot of background usage with snapchat even though background app refresh is off and the app is closed. I'm constantly at 11% usage. Well, it was 12% for the last 24 hours because I used it heavily a just a bit ago.

I hate using the app but many of my friends use it primarily to communicate (no idea how they manage, it's awful) so yeah. I wish I could simply delete it but I can't really.

Closed as in you remove it from the recent apps/multitasking are right after you are done using it?

2.2 hours is only around 32 minutes more than 1.5. For 5 days that's hardly excessive. Facebook was like 1 hour screen time and 4 hours background in 24 hours

Yeah I know, I stated in the original post that it isn't as bad as the Facebook issue, but it's still using battery when I'm not even using it, and I have no way of stopping it. An app being active in background that much for no reason isn't right. I'm at 1 minute usage today yet it's been active for 13 minutes in background. 1.5 hours on screen this whole week, 2.5 in background. I'm struggling to get 5 hours of use on my iPhone 6 where I usually clear 6-7 easily.

And so what if it's only 32 minutes more than 1.5 hours? It shouldn't even be in the background for the same amount of time that it's open, let alone more than that. That means at least half the battery drain the app is contributing is completely unrelated to even using it.
