You know what we need?

A 600+ page post about "scuffs" and how we are "owed" a flawless product out of the box because we spent our "hard" "earned" money to get it...

That would show them!

The truth really really hurts. We are a society comprised of a LOT of spoiled, whiny, entitled brats.

Spot on SNL. Rare, but SPOT ON.

:apple:

I just watched it. Pretty funny how accurate they portrayed all the cry babies in the press trying to shoot down everything a successful company does. You sell five million phones in a weekend, and your product is so crappy. I agree everything is not perfect, but 90% of the items I purchase from any other company are much worse. The press makes everything out to be worse than it actually is. Just watch your local news. It's pretty disgusting how our society thrives on drama and trying to bring others down. Laughed my arse off!!!!

I think I'm the only person who felt like the entire situation degraded the United States' first-world-problem life style by making the Chinese seem poor and pathetic. Which is okay because it made us look like selfish fatcats. I guess...

And Apple, the company that engineered the device, is American, and didn't receive any scorn, just the hypothetical factory workers who assembled the hardware.

The nit-picking complaints are really stupid, yes. But um... This didn't making any sense to me.

by making the Chinese seem poor and pathetic.

When millions of hinterland Chinese have to leave their families for year at a time to look for jobs in the cities... unless your are a wealthy Coastal Chinese who choose to ignore this fact then nobody can help you.

Sure China has come a long way since Mao's but even ministers of China will tell you [paraphrasing] "We still have lots of mouths to feed."

Pathetic? What are you talking about? Nobody is pathetic if they are willing to work no matter how hard the working condition are. Pathetic is if they blame everybody else for their troubles, which they are not.

Not in this skit, but Apple has received plenty of criticism.

just the hypothetical factory workers who assembled the hardware

Again, I am not sure where u getting this negativity from. You sound like a highly nationalistic Chinese who have only been in the West for a short time and are ultra sensitive to be reminded of China status in the world.

----------

THANK YOU SNL.

I've been following everything Apple, and there's been news of recent trouble at FoxConn. There seems to be links of Customer Complaints and Chinese workers pushed to the blink because FoxConn management is been demanding ever more stringent QA from the workers.

I didn't want to post anything, don't want to make trouble here, but because of SNL, now it's out there.

Everybody should think about what your troubles are in the big scheme of things.

Your response isn't really making sense to me. Wouldn't the way to shed light on how "first world problems" are not as significant as we think, be to juxtapose it with the current situation in China?

The sad thing is that the living and financial situations in some villages in China ARE that bad.

I would prefer if it was made in America, but if I am spending my hard earned money on a product I expect it to be of high quality. I know that is a lot to expect these days...

Wonder why this hasn't made front page from the moderators? Apple related and hits home with everyone's complaining.

Complainers are what drive page clicks and ad revenue here at macrumors, no way they post something like this on the front page that mocks them.

That skit was pretty funny. I need to start watching SNL again...been a couple of years since I watched it.

Thank you for the reminder. Soooooo many decades/generations ago, best to be forgotten. However, those memories did fuel an intense heartfelt desire to succeed, which has forged unlimited opportunities and a wonderful life.

The task at hand now is to remind my children to to impress upon their children of what their great grandparents had to endure and sacrifice. In that end, I am mistaken with a previous comment . . . Never forget.

Brilliant skit and no surprise this thread did not get much traffic. I think everyone here have set it best. Honestly macrumors have turned into a forum full of people who make self-entitled posts that are really unreasonable and have unrealistic expectations.

Don't confuse a mocking skit with the reality of all the problems associated with the new iphone. Many have lost tons of time and effort in attempting to obtain defect-free iPhone 5's.

This.

Buyers do deserve a defect-free product.

Anyone who doesn't think so, should feel free to trade their unscratched new iPhone with someone else who got a blemished one.

Why would someone else trade their phone to another who feels like they have a blemished one? People who have their phone and are not complaining don't like to hang out with whiners in real life, talk to them and laugh at them on the internet is ok but real life no. I suggest you share your complaints at work and let me know how fast you develop a negative reputation at work. Apple is the store that have great customer service to service these people.

These kinds of retorts is what gave rise to the phrase, "Oy Vey."

Well if the phone has problems it has problems and some crying Chinese worker isn't gonna change that.

I want every worker at Foxconn to be fired and replaced with machines.
The sooner the better. ;)
