snow leopard and old whitebook question

if i were to install the 4gb it would only read like 3.5 or something? once leopard is out will it read all 4gb?
 
oh dang lol. so i guess the 13' macbook pros go upto 8gb like the 15'. wot do the whitebooks with the 9400 go upto?
