When selecting multiple files on the desktop (pictures for example), you used to be able to drag them onto the mail app icon in the dock and have a single email open up with all the files attached. Now this doesn't work anymore. The first time you do it, it opens up two emails, each with one file attached (out of 5 total, lets say). Then the next time you try it, it will open up an email with 2 files attached. The next time, 3 files will be attached, and so on. This continues until a new set of files is selected. When doing it from within finder in a folder other than the 'Desktop' folder, it seems to work just fine.

The same issue arises if trying to open multiple pictures from the desktop (all JPG). They don't all show up in a single preview window anymore. The first time, only one picture opens. The second time, two will open, etc etc.

My friend confirmed he is also having this bug. We both upgraded from Leopard.

Can anyone else confirm or post any solutions. I can record a video and post if necessary.

All this on a 2009 Unibody 15" MBP with the 8hr battery.

I have this problem as well, but its not limited to teh desktop.

When I try to drag 7 photos from my Downloads folder onto the Mail icon on my dock, 2 email messages open.

1st attempt: 1 with 1 of the photos, the 2nd with 2 diff photos.
2nd: 1 w/ 1 photo, 2 w/ 3 photos
3rd: 1 w/ 1 photo, 2 w/ 4 photos

Install info: Upgrade from Leopard to Snow Leopard, have not done the latest update (hari-bhari has done the latest update, issue not resolved). Running a 15" MBP Mid-2009 release.

I'm not having that problem, but try this ...

At the lower right of your mail window, choose "Small" on "Image Size:" Could be, all your files are there, but Mail windows don't have a horizontal scroll. The "missing" files could be off to the right and out of view. (At least, I thought I had found your bug on my machine until i did this.)

on the phone with apple right now. tech support has recognized the issue and we're waiting on a product specialist. for those of you not having the problem, what systems are you running?

Update: Got on line with the engineering dep't who confirmed the bug. First time it has been reported. Hopefully will be fixed by the next update

drag multiple emails bug

I have a similar bug: since I upgraded to Snow Leopard, if I try to drag multiple email messages from one folder to another, only one message moves at a time.

I've seen this too (images not opening in the same window, some images not being opened at all when multiple images are selected). On an early 2008 MBP.
