I'm trying to use those shelf pictures that you can use as finder backgrounds like this:

However, when I choose the picture option on view options and then choose a picture, the background just stays white. I made sure that finder was set to view icons and it still didn't work. Any ideas? Thanks.

If you're using Snow Leopard, there's a size limit to the image file you can use. I believe it's something like 2000x4000px. I don't think Leopard had this limitation.

Cause of the problem

It seems Snow Leopard has a limit of 2000 x 2000 px for image backgrounds. I cropped them and it worked.
