hi

getting really annoyed here, installed snow leopard on 24" iMac 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo and all seems to go ok until it restarts

it just hangs on the blue screen for hours and hours, even a power off/on results in the same problem

i can boot into safe mode no probs, but always end up on hanging blue screen when i reboot (safe mode ok)

deleted all login items etc, but still no go

not running any haxies either

any ideas??

tia!

Firstly, I know you're exaggerating about the blue screen hanging for hours and hours. I'm sure you didn't just let it stay like that for so long.

Many people that are having good experiences are ones that are doing a complete erase of the previous OS, reformat and install SL. It may best you to do this.

^ thanks but no application enhancers installed

loks like i might need to do an erase & install (lucky for timecapsule)

Okay, if you are going to go that route (as I suggested) then do the full erase and install first. Don't restore from a Time Machine backup during the install. Wait till you get to the desktop and verify everything is working then go back and do the Time Machine backup.

I got the blue screen on the first reboot also. But somehow, clicking around with the MBP touchpad got me a little sliver of the "login" window (where it shows the two logins for this machine).

I managed to click on my login, and a little more of the screen was revealed for entering my password (the rest remaining blue). Eventually the whole screen came back to life. Lucky me.

I got the exact same thing on my MacBook, and ever since the initial instal this problem has kept reoccurring. about 1 in 3 times i open my mac book after logging out and closing it from a previous session, it will stay on that blue screen rather than showing the login page. to fix this, and login, i've found i have to close and reopen my macbook, after which the blue screen is still there but this time my curser is visible and movable. i then have to estimate where the login button would be under the washed blue screen and click. if i get it right, the login window will appear, with the blue wash still around it. Once i've logged in it is totally fine; the entire screen loads and it runs without a problem until i close my macbook again.

Does anyone know why this happens? its starting to get pretty annoying!
