That is the minimum requirements; I don't know an exact number but I would assume that the optimum space is somewhat more than 5 GB. [EDIT] I would say leave 15-20 GB (or maybe a bit more) for SL, so you'll have enough for usability. That still leaves plenty out of a 500 GB HDD.
