When I first got SL, one of the most noticeable differences was that Snow Leopard would shut down in the blink of an eye, whereas Leopard took an age.

But I now find SL takes almost as long - what could be causing this and how can I fix it?

cheers

Hmmm... Snow Leopard is just as fast as it was when I first got if for me...

Try repairing permissions in disk utility. That always helps speed things up.
