But I now find SL takes almost as long - what could be causing this and how can I fix it? cheers

roadbloc macrumors G3 Feb 11, 2010 #2 Hmmm... Snow Leopard is just as fast as it was when I first got if for me... Try repairing permissions in disk utility. That always helps speed things up.
