My Macbook still has OS 10.5 "Leopard". I'm about to upgrade to SL. Do I still need to do full updates on 10.5 THEN run SL or I can just run SL over what I've got and that will bring me fully up to date(after running updates).

You can update from Mac OS X 10.5.0 to Mac OS X 10.6.x if you want if you buy the Snow Leopard Upgrade DVD for 29 USD.

Yeah my DVD is coming, I just wanted to know that I don't have to run the 10.5 update before running SL install.

You don't have to install Mac OS X 10.5 updates first. Just upgrade to Snow Leopard and run Software Update after.

Make sure you're backed up though before doing any kind of thing like that, though. Stuff can go wrong :(

SL will clear out 6 GB of disk space after you installed it.
    Welcome to true 64-Bit OS.

I don't have any programs installed beyond the basic Leopard install. I haven't been using it for anything. I was using Windows on Bootcamp. But now I'm gonna go whole hog on Mac OS X.:D

backing up is definitely a good idea...can't say how many times i've been saved from catastrophe by monthly backups to multiple drives
