I just restarted my computer running Snow Leopard (10.6) and noticed that it remounted all the disk images that were mounted before the restart. This could be useful sometimes, but it also gets rid of the option to restart if something doesn't eject.

Not many people can help you here, as only developers have their hands on SL. Try going into Finder prefs and see what you can find.
