Snow Leopard Stacks

I am confused on how to view stacks in a grid instead of a fan. I upgraded from Leopard, but it still opens in a fan when clicked upon.

Right click on the stack and select "Grid" under the "View content as" section.

Not related to the initial question, but a stack related query:

Is there any way of making the grid view look like it did in Leopard? i.e. Smaller icons with no scroll? I don't like having to scroll.
