My sister got a Macbook, not sure when, but brand new, sealed etc off eBay. If it was in June, could we get the up to date SL? The thing is, it was bought from someone who got it from their insurance company because they had two Macbooks stolen.

It just says the serial number can't be found 🙁. And why can't you pre-order Snow Leopard from Apple's site? Or can you only do the up to date thing now?

Did you register the MacBook? If not that is why it can't be found. Snow Leopard is not for sale yet and that is why :apple: won't allow preorders. I would think it would be in there best interest to do so but that's :apple:

Oh no, I never registered a Mac. I just did then, but it wasn't an AU site, does it matter?

First June likely won't make a difference. When did the insurance company buy it? That is the date for warranty. :apple: will look at it that you are the second owner, not the first. You do know that there is always the possibility that you bought a stolen computer.

Call :apple: and tell them your story to see why your serial number don't show up...

No, it has the insurance receipt etc, showing what was stolen and replaced. Well, I guess I'll just buy the upgrade thing.
