I tried installing Snow Leopard. It installed correctly. But after initial restart, it hung and gave me the blue screen. I restarted several times but same result.

Next, I booted from the install CD. Tried to install from there but install fails every time.

Now I want to tranfer all my files to an external HD. I can view the files on this drive via Terminal. But I cannot write to it because it is read only for some reason. It also has a NTFS file system (i dont know if it matters).

But I need help to mount this hd so I can read and write to it.

Any ideas? Remember I only have access to Terminal and Disk Utility. I tried repairing disk for my local drive. Nothing. For my external HD the option to repair/verify disk is disabled.

I am installing this on a Macbook Pro . The install CD is white. I got it from Apple.
