Snow Storm in October!

Well today in the north east we are having a snow storm and its only October! The snow began falling about 8am in NW Jersey. It didnt start sticking until around 1:30 and now theres about 3/4inch and it supposed to continue until tomorrow with a 1-4inch accumulation in total. Post news abouts whats going on in your area. I think it was one year ago today that we had a snow storm also but it was my ice last time.
 
It snowed last weekend here in Omaha, NE. I wouldn't call it a snow storm though. It was a few inches, though. The snow sticked around for 2 days.
 
A few wet flakes are falling in CT, nothing accumulating but still. Might be a rough winter.:(

Still coming down hard here. I think your right its going to be a rough winter.

Thats what I tell everyone and most agree but others say "Well doesnt global warming mean the Earth gets hotter and not colder?" I then go on to tell them how global warming also effects storm patterns and can cause drastic temperature change.

No doubt soon you'll have polar bears in the Northeast and the beginnings of glaciers but still the global warming supporters look puzzled!

Well... at least ski season starts early!!!
 
Snowing in the Australian ski fields too, we've had about a foot. So far it feels like it's snowed more out of season than in.

What an awesome day!
 
Doesn't global warming essentially mean that the summers get hotter, and the winters colder? :confused:. That's how I always thought of it...
 
it's been snowing occasionally all day here in the Hudson Valley in NY nothing sticking though not cold enough and the ground is wet.

Yes. It doesnt mean that it just gets warmer and then winters begin to go away. It means the weather patterns get mest up and then like you said the summers are hotter and the winters colder.

I'm all for hotter summers, this year it was too cold.
 
...meanwhile
for the next couple of days, arizona will go back to the triple digits. it'll be miserable without the a/c running. :(
 
I envy you, we haven't had a good snow storm that actually stuck here in South Carolina for several years :(

It modifies Earth's climate. Hence, you see hotter Summers and colder Winters, in other words more extreme weather.

On a side note, I hope it snows this year (just like last year) here in New Orleans. I would love for it to snow again... I also hope it stays for a few days...

Same here, some people complain about cold weather but I'm just looking forward to hopefully getting some snow:p, at least the past couple of years I've got to go somewhere with snow(went skiing in Virginia and Wyoming)
 
I personally cannot wait for winter to get here, I am an AVID skier like skiing is my life watching that snow fall today made my day. I got so excited for winter, snow and SKIING. I cannot wait to get out there.
