I don't understand why people would want to have zippers on their sleeves. I had a ZeroShock sleeve for my old Toshiba R100 with zippers that went 3/4 of the way around the notebook and I found that either the zippers or the teeth rubbed up against the notebook, causing the plastic to scuff.

So when I started looking into getting a MBP, I wanted a sleeve that I could just slide my notebook in and out of, without the need for zipping. From another thread here on MR Forums, I saw a recommendation for sleeves from http://wrappers.typepad.com. I got one for my 13" MBP, and the material is high quality and the craftsmanship is superb. Anyways, just another option for you to consider!

No zippers here either.

I use a Foof Bag - http://foofshop.com

Although it doesnt protect from drops and what not. It does protect against scratches and small dents... I just use it as extra protection when its in my backpack.

oh.. and it keeps my MBP nice and warm.

Thanks for all the suggestions.

I ended up just ordering a Waterfields Sleeve case. I know I would have liked the booq vyper but I was worried that it may be a on thicker side to fit in my bag.

Cheers

The booq Vyper is the best protection I've ever seen in a notebook sleeve. In my opinion, it offers far better protection than any neoprene case, it is a nice snug fit, so there's no sliding around inside it, the zippers never come into contact with your MBP, and it looks great!

Are the softer Taipan sleeves a good buy, and are they good with drops?

Read my first post in this thread. The zippers on the Vyper never touch the MBP.

Yes, I read your post, I'm just skeptical of such claims =P

I did go and check out the design of the Booq and it looks like there's a sort of inner lip that protects the notebook from the zipper teeth when you close it up, so that's probably enough to keep the teeth at bay. Even so, I wouldn't want any zippers near my notebook, period, but I guess to each his own :)

Will the booq Viper sleeve fit inside larger booq bag, such as the Catch or Shift? I'm assuming it would, but I'm not totally sure.

My claim doesn't come from looking at a picture, but from 3 years of regular use.

The exact dimensions of the Vyper are listed on the booq site, so you can compare those dimensions to any bag you're considering.

Anyone know where I can get a booq vyper m3 in Canada? Or is it a U.S. only affair :(. I might just get an incase sleeve but zippers do worry me.

If buying online http://macinbag.com/ca/booq-vyper-m3-macbook-pro-15-sleeve.html

http://stores.booq.com/ has the authorized dealers listed and you can see if you have one nearby. If not, the link I posted above and you can buy online.

Shipping directly from booq to Canada is too expensive and will involve brokerage, tax etc.
