So Apple TV3 has the exact same tech specs as 2?!

The last version had an A4 chip which is based upon a cortex A8 and had a single core graphics core, the A5 runs a cortex A9 and has dual core graphics.

I'm not aware of there being any indication as to whether it contains the same or more ram than the old apple tv.

Looks that way. Same A5 CPU. Ram etc.
AppleTV2 has an A4. Not sure if they snuck some storage into the new one though, but IF it doesn't then our dreams of getting AppleTV Apps might have to be held off until next year.

Apps will run off iCloud. As long as the CPU and graphics can handle it so single core A5 chip with dual core graphics should be adequate

I get a bit confused by the 30 fps notation. The ATV2 is playing 60 fps rips with no problems...
Apple seems to report playable specs on the conservative side. For instance Apple does not mention the ATV2 can play high profile H264 (but mentions the ATV3 can). However I have no problems playing them on my current ATV2.

I suspect the ATV3 will be similar - can handle a lot more then what Apple claims (Maybe even full quality MPEG-4 AVC blu-ray streams remuxed in M4v). Only time will tell.

So I wonder if we'll see any improvements in the picture quality of MLB.tv on the Apple TV 3. On the ATV2, it sure looks a lot like 24fps, which is not ideal for sports.
