I'm also a little confused to me the 2019 13 niche MacBook Air & 2019 13 nich Macbook Pro are about the same computer. since they mainly all of the same ports but the only difference is the Air has the 12 physical function keys, and Pro has the touch bar.

i think i'm also going to get the pro
Pro for sure, quad core, barely any larger more powerful. better colors, brightness.. I don't know who would even go for the air to be honest...

This is not true. They’re definitely not the same computer. Although it completely depends on what you use your computer for.

i just mean the outside is pretty similar, but the internals are different. Right now i have a mid 2011 13 inch Macbook Air which has been good, i have had apple replace the battery once, and i also had fan issues which apple fixed.

So it times for a upgraded since my MacBook air can't run Catalina when it comes out

Hey @akash.nu , hope you're doing well.

I, personally, would go for the pro mainly because of performance while it still being relatively portable imo.

I don't really see why I would get an Air because it just doesn't seem much more portable than the Pro, but maybe it's worth checking out in the store.

I'm sure both are really great though. I think the bigger difference in size would be a Pro 13" and a MacBook 12" which Apple discontinued.

Pro for sure! I'd try and go for the 2.4 which was on special at Best Buy if you are in the USA was $1599! I can tell a difference between the 1.4 and 2.4 not so much in speed, but build quality, even though they are 'suppose' to be the same...

I went to the Best Buy link and I noticed that the one that you referred to for 1599 was the 2018 model not the 2019 refreshed model. If that makes any difference.

IMO I'd honestly get the MBP. I really don't see much difference in thinness. The air is thinner towards you but gets thicker as you go towards the back. If you need more battery life, get a 45W power delivery battery bank and hook it up to your laptop.

The best feature about the Air is that it has function keys instead of the Touch-Bar.

That itself is a major difference and can make or break the experience.

Ahh thought was 2019, I know 2.4 2019 is on sale not sure how much I guess...

Yeah, I looked at the site and scrolled down to the specification and saw that it was 2018 not 2019. I said wow, better not buy this one and wait for a good sale on the 2019 model. ;) When it showed about 400/$500 less compared to other places that had sales of $100, I decided to dig a little bit further. Oh well.

I thought that Best Buy discount was a little too good to be a 2019 as well. I didn't see the year listed on the page, but I looked up the model number and sure enough it was a 2018 model. I think that showing that it's an i7, for example, without listing the exact speed in GHz is a bit shady, as is not showing the year of the model with all the other technical details. This appears to be by design in order to fool buyers and I don't like these kind of shady tactics. I'll make my next purchase from Apple directly or from a dealer like B&H that shows all the details of the product up front and clearly.

I scrolled down to “specification” area which was way down in the specs on the Best Buy site and found the date of manufacture. I agree, you have to do your work to find all that you need for a purchase from Best Buy. It should’ve been right up front, but wasn’t.

It’s on its way! excited!

In 2019 every ultrabook is using 4 core CPU, while MacBook Air uses a 2 core CPU.
If you don't want to be vastly overpowered by every windows laptop, avoid the MacBook Air. That's my take.

Mine is on its way also

waiting is always the hard part
