Hmmm...

Maybe a dumb question, but what "should" the battery life be for the 2012 Air 11"? Also, what has the battery life been for previous generations?

I've seen anywhere from 3-5 hours.

I get about three hours on WiFi with brightness maxed, ClickToFlash (flash blocker) on.

That really depends on what you're doing on the computer, brightness, wifi, blutooth etc.

Wenn I got my Air 2012 since 5 days and I think my battery life dropped from 7 hours to 5 hours while browsing...

I've had great battery life on Mountain Lion. And 10.8.2 only seems to make it better. Give me a week and I'll be able to tell. I'm always on battery I notice when the battery life takes a hit.

I'm using a 2011 13" i7 MacBook Air.

To help make some sense of the battery live I made this spreadsheet.
If you go and put your information in there then I can graph it all out and we can see some patterns.

just add your laptop to the chart, i tried to make it easy and painless while still being useful.

Oh and feel free to post multiple entries at different battery % levels.

I have seen an improvement in battery life. ML reports ~8hrs after full charge where it only reported ~5.5hrs before.

I surfed for several hours on the battery alone last night and after 3 hours I still had ~75% of the battery life left.

Now mind you, these are only estimations.

For those who are getting decent battery life, did you upgrade from lion to mountain lion? or did you guys do a fresh install?

On a full charge, idle and default screen brightness, I was getting a little under 9 hours before the update. It now reports over 12. Woot! :D

Hey, did you do an upgrade from Lion to Mountain Lion? Or a fresh install?

Additional follow-up; 10.8.2 definitely seems to have helped. I can get about 8 hours now of web browsing and word processing, which is up about 2 hours from 10.8.

Never really had problems. During university lectures, WIFI off, brightness 6-7 bars, with word and sometimes a PDF-file opened, my 2012 MBA uses like 12-14% per 2 hours. Indicated battery time up to 11.00hrs.

For me 10.8.2 gives me just as much battery as I got with 10.7.x that my Air came with.

Using Click-to-flash and ad-block
Brightness @ just under 1/2 and keyboard light on it's lightest setting with Mail, Safari, Adium and a few tabs open I get about 5hrs.

My daily work flow on my 15"'MBP is very consistent day after day. So comparing battery is quite easy. Being near an outlet means I've never been that concerned.

However I do use it away from the desk several times per month so I thought I'd track it before the update. Now I understand what others are talking about. There's certainly less run time. After the latest update I'm not noticing a difference. I use super timer to track usage for work. Therefore if there was a difference it'd be easy for me to identify it.

I'm sure as more reports come in, Apple will take another try at fixing it.

Use to have 6-7 hours on my air before 10.8.2 but now i only get ~5 hours with a full charge.. The brightness is around 30% too so it's not where it was before.. I want at least 6-7 hours on low brightness but i guess 5 is better than 4 or less.

Based on the computer's reading at full charge, on 10.8.1 I get 4.55hrs, brightness at 50%. Now with 10.8.2 I get a reading of 5.5hrs. New 2011 11" Air with only 23 cycles.
